Abstract

The article deals with the development of the social sphere of the Smolensk Region in the current conditions of political turbulence. Like most regions of the Russian Federation, the Smolensk region is exposed to external macro-environment factors. The change in the nature of Russia's economic ties with its main foreign partners also affected the economic well-being of the region and its social development. At the same time, a number of programs and projects aimed at improving the well-being of the inhabitants of the Smolensk Region are being consistently implemented in the region.
