Abstract
The article attempts to examine the main problems of formation and development of the gas industry in Saratov region during the Great Patriotic War on the example of the construction of the pipeline «Elshanka–Saratov». It shows the difficulties of foundation and management of the pipeline construction during wartime and scaricity of essential resources, the role of the human factor and the characteristics of the work which were determined by the above-listed factors.
