Abstract
The article considers the problems of the national policy and related problems of the territorial integrity of the state in political and legal views of V.N. Tatishchev. The main direction of the national policy, justified by Tatishchev, should be the integration of the different nationalities in the cultural, economic and legal space of the Russian Empire. It means education of non-Russians, familiarization of nomadic peoples with agriculture, involving them into the industrial manufacturing. According to the point of view of V.N. Tatischev, the main political guarantee of the territorial integrity and the tool of prevention of separatism should be strong power of emperor. The author notes that many ideas of Tatishchev were formed on the basis of the economic considerations, but nevertheless have the independent legal-political importance. The author notes that the implementation of many ideas of Tatishchev gave positive practical results. Despite widening the Russian territory during the 18th century by joining regions, inhabited mainly by non-Russians, the imperial authority in most cases could successfully prevent separatism.
