Abstract

The author studies fundamental concepts of state and civil society and shows that modern Western concepts and categories, which describe social and political phenomena cannot be applied to the Russian society. The fundamental concepts of the Western social and humanitarian studies indiscriminately lead to the fitting of social phenomena into the given theoretical models and schemes. The author interprets these methodological shortcomings as the reluctance to the recognition of the unique character of Russia as a self-sufficient cultural and civilizational phenomenon.
