Abstract
This paper is devoted to the problem of the ideology in science, using the example of the Russian mathematics research community. The problem has been considered in two different and interrelated aspects. Firstly, the article illustrates the influence of the political ideology on the scientific community, which was represented as ideologization of science. It is shown how a race for the authority and status in mathematics community was developing with the use of an ideological resource since 1920s. Secondly, the article reveals the specifics of the internal ideology of the scientific community, which can be termed as the scientific, and the mathematicians’ attitude to it. The results of the research of mathematicians’ views on the problem of ideology in whole and on scientism as a form of internal ideology of science are stated.
