«To Catch Up and Overtake …» (to the Issue of Agrarian Experiments of N.S. Khruschev)

This publication is an attempt to trace the objectives and implementation of one of the Khrushchev’s campaigns in the field of agriculture, namely an attempt to catch up and overtake the USA in production of meat, butter, and milk per capita . Aspiration of the First secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU N.S. Khruschev to outstrip the USA had both objective and subjective preconditions; an emphasis basically has been made on collective farms and state farms, with restriction of resources of a personal farmstead. Realization of the program passed with law infringement, abusing of the authorities, falsification of statistics and had return result from the purpose - decreasing in manufacture of cattle-breeding production, and promoted crisis of agrarian manufacture.
