Abstract
The article analyzes the reaction of Russian society to the introduction of the electronic identification of a person, such as universal electronic cards and electronic passports. It shows the advantages of electronic documents and, at the same time, summarizes arguments of the part of the society, which is religiously oriented and does not want to accept these documents. It also offers the compromise settlement of the problem.
