Abstract
The article deals with problems and contradictions of the development of private security companies and the necessity for expansion of their functions. Conclusions are made on the base of analysis of private security companies` activity. The process demands the improvement of the legislation in order to optimize their work. Moreover, private security companies are regarded as elements of the Russian integrated national security system.
