The Institution of Legislative Power in the Mass Political Consciousness of the Russian Society

The article is devoted to the problem of perception of legislative power institute by the Russian society. The author examines the transformation of Russian society`s attitude towards parliament. The analysis of the statistics allows determining the reasons for the low level of public confidence in this institution. Population of the Russian Federation is convinced that the State Duma and the Federation Council are both negligent to their duties, to problems of the state and interests of society. The Lower Chamber is an institution that by its very nature and purpose should express, represent and protect the interests of people, but now it has the less support than other authoritative bodies. The author believes that the main basis of the negative attitude of the Russian society to the legislature is a low level of efficiency and a lack of positive results of the parliament`s work. However, statistics indicate that population is still not ready to refuse such institution as the State Duma.
