Abstract

Features of structural distribution of rural settlements of Buryatia in 21st century are highlighted in the article. On the basis of statistical data which shows a number of rural settlements and a rate of population in them, processes of depopulation are analyzed and the main migration vectors are revealed. Disorder of agricultural production, decrease of a life standard along with current urbanization trends became the main reasons for structural changes in distribution of rural settlements. There is a sharp reduction of population of small villages against increase of population in large settlements and city. Programs for village support generally pay attention to development of economic practices, without providing functions on territorial, social development.
