Abstract

The author notes the objective character of intensification of economic relations between the USSR and Eastern Europe in the early postwar years. The defeat of Germany, the political and economic vacuum in Europe and the US aggressive policy determined the role of the Soviet Union as the main partner of the East European countries in creating a model of socialist economic integration. The ideological factor played a great role in the in the Soviet policy towards the countries of Eastern Europe. The article discusses some basic aspects in the involvement of the major economic regions of the USSR (North and Center, South and Ural-Volga region) in export of production to Eastern Europe.
