Abstract
This article analyzes opportunities and problems in the sphere of image making of the Republic of Karelia. Analysis is based on S. Anholt’s model. Culture and tourism both are the most favorable spheres for creation attractive image of the Republic of Karelia. The main problem for the region is population reduction. Economic health and politics allows representing Karelia as «cultured, educated» region that can promote the republic as a place for live.
