Abstract

Transformation of symbolical value of parade in a context of changing the policy of memory in the Soviet and post-Soviet society is considered in the article. The author allocates the parade`s characteristics as specific commemoration practice representing various moments of historical past in a context of modern political reality. In conditions of the Soviet political reality parade was a representation of symbolical start date of «a new era» – October revolution. In the post-Soviet society there was a replacement of a symbolized event. The parade of 1941 gained dominating value in the context of historical memory of a victory in the World War II. Thus, the feeling of continuity with positive results of a previous historical era is reached and there is a selection of social practices, their investment with new value
