Abstract
The article considers contemporary US–Japan relations both in military and political and in political and economic spheres. The interaction between Washington and Tokyo is studied in the context of relations between the world’s leading powers. It is shown that each of them is guided by its own foreign policy scenarios. As a result not only the US–Japan relations are considered. The role of the USA, Russia and China in the emerging balance of power after bipolarity is also analyzed. The US–Japan military and political interaction in the US scenario of military and political containment of Russia and China is revealed. It is noted that the US–Japan global containment subsystem in the Asia-Pacific region is formed in fact. The attention is focused on the changing of the world and regional balance of power under the influence of the US–Japan alliance. Political and economic component of the US–Japan relations is analyzed in the context of trade and economic competition between the USA and China. In this context the Russia’s interests are also considered. In the outcome of the study attention is paid to the key changes in the contemporary US–Japan relations. The systemic picture of the US–Japan relations regarding interests of Russia and China is demonstrated.
