Abstract

Objective of the study is to analyze the strategy for the sustainable development of a metropolis in the context of the peculiarities of its economic, technological and cultural development. The methodological basis of the study is the riskological and synergetic approaches, which make it possible to reveal the nature of risks and the mechanisms of self-organization of the urban ecosystem; provisions of the theory of urbanization, the concept of sustainable development and the “consumer society”. Results of the study. Achieving sustainable development of a modern metropolis is a complex process, including the coordination of the socio-economic, technological and spiritual spheres of society, which, in turn, themselves consist of many elements, their interrelations and contradictions. In this regard, the implementation of a strategy for the sustainable development of a modern large city requires a combination of balanced economic, social, cultural and environmental policies of the state. Research Perspectives. The problem of ensuring sustainable development of a modern metropolis is of scientific and practical interest due to the need to understand the further development of urban civilization and find ways to resolve contradictions in the “city-nature” system.
