Objective of the study is: to identify the differences in the value orientations of student youth by groups of high-degree film impressions (favorite film): domestic films and foreign films. The methodological basis of the research was the method of identifying the respondent's favorite film by means of an open question (it was suggested to name one name). Each identified film was labeled by production (domestic/foreign). On this basis, groups of preferences are identified: "favorite domestic film", "favorite foreign film". Then the respondent assessed how important each value from a number of suggested values was to him personally. The differentiation of assessments depending on the selected groups of film preferences allowed us to trace the differences between their value orientations. Research result. Three groups of value orientations have been identified, depending on the differences in the assessments of the groups of film reviews: 1) the greatest degree of differences is observed in those values that characterize the relationship between an individual and society along the line of loyalty to the latter – these values are more important for the "domestic films" group; 2) the minimum degree of differences is observed when assessing the importance of values that characterize an individual lifestyle (a strong family, the priority of the spiritual over the material), orientation on collectivism – somewhat more characteristic of the group "domestic films"; rights and freedoms are characteristic of the group "foreign films"; 3) there are no differences in the assessments of the most universal values: human life; justice; work; humanism and mercy. Prospects of the study. The results can be used in the study of the relationship between film preferences and formed value orientations; it is also possible to use as illustrative material for the course "sociology of culture".Keywords:films, film awards, domestic films, foreign films, values, value orientations, student youthAuthor Biographies
