Abstract

Objective of the study is to consider the factors that hinder the development of youth volunteering in modern Russia. The article also evaluates the socio-economic, socio-psychological and informational aspects that influence the decision of young people to become active volunteers. The methodological basis of the research. The author's sociological research was conducted. The questionnaire includes questions aimed at identifying the role of public authorities at various levels in organizing voluntary or volunteer activities in specific localities. Based on the empirical data obtained, the opinions of residents of the Rostov region representing different age groups are taken into account, and in total, negative assessments of the activities of regional and municipal authorities related to the organization of volunteering prevail. Based on the analysis of sociological data and specialized studies, the author investigated the current situation in the country, identified the reasons for the low involvement of young people in volunteer activities. Research results. At the moment, the current situation in the volunteer environment is such a dynamic in which the significant potential of volunteer activity associated with the desire inherent in many people to help and work as volunteers remains unfulfilled. The number of potential volunteers significantly exceeds the number of those who are really actively involved in volunteer initiatives. In the context of state policy and public opinion, the author analyzed the prospects for overcoming these obstacles and proposed strategies for the effective development of youth volunteering, which can contribute to increasing the number of active participants in volunteer initiatives. Prospects of the study. It is revealed that information support for volunteer activities, including various publications about the achievements of individual representatives of the volunteer movement, could significantly contribute to more active involvement of young people in this movement.
