Abstract

Objective of the study was to understand what the main contradictions of Russian society look like in the perception of the population of the country and to assess the dynamics of this perception in the period from 2005 to 2021. The methodological basis of the research was dynamic, comparative and correlation analysis. The perception of contradictions was considered at the same time as an element of public consciousness, which is important for the consolidation of society. Based on the data of a number of all-Russian studies of the IS of the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences for 2005-2021, the article presents an analysis of the change in the attitude of Russians to contradictions of various nature (including those related to socio-economic inequalities related to political and administrative relations, as well as those of a socio-cultural or ideological nature). The groups of contradictions with different types of dynamics of the attitude of representatives of the mass strata of the country's population to them during the period under review are also analyzed. Research results. It is shown that the contradictions of an economic and political-administrative nature were perceived most acutely by Russians in 2005-2021, and intergroup tension in Russian society remained at a high level all this time. However, in relation to groups belonging to the mass strata of the population, this tension has noticeably decreased since 2005, while maintaining (but not strengthening) the relationship between the mass strata of society and its "top". The groups that have a special position in relation to the contradictions in Russian society were primarily Muscovites and Petersburgers, as well as young people under 25 and citizens who assess their financial situation as poor. The South of Russia is characterized by a relatively calmer attitude to intergroup contradictions than the rest of the country. Prospects of the study. Providing an understanding of the "background" perception of the intergroup contradictions of Russian society and the main trends of deviation from this typical picture under the influence of various factors at both macro and micro levels, the study can be used to solve a number of management tasks related to increasing the degree of consolidation of Russian society. In addition, it can be expanded by adding new time points to it or by in-depth analysis at the level of individual regions.
