Abstract

Objective of the study is to analyze the factors of formation and the main problems of the development of youth volunteer activity in modern Russian society. To consider the reasons hindering the effective functioning of the youth volunteer movement in our country. The methodological basis of the research consists of institutional and activity-based approaches. Thus, within the framework of the institutional approach, volunteerism is considered as an institution of civil society: from the point of view of one of the prominent foreign institutionalists, D. North, the value of volunteering lies in the possibility of reducing government spending. The activity approach, in turn, allows us to study the impact of volunteer activity on the spheres of consciousness and behavior of the persons involved in it. Research results. The authors note that the successful development of youth volunteerism in our country is hindered by socio-economic and socio-psychological factors. The main problem of the functioning of the youth volunteer movement in our country is connected with the fact that with the predominance of a positive attitude to volunteering, ideas about the high social significance and usefulness of the activity in question, the number of young people who regularly participate in volunteer activities remains small. Nevertheless, there are quite a large number of people who can be designated as potential volunteers who can become active participants in the volunteer movement in the future. Prospects of the study. In order for volunteer activities to be effectively implemented, constant information support is needed, which is designed to activate the potential of volunteer or volunteer activity available in the youth environment.
