Abstract
Objective of the study – theoretical analysis of the formation and development of physical recreation in the system of sports and recreational activities.
The methodological basis of the research makes a critical analysis of theoretical and methodological approaches to sports and recreational activities that have developed in modern social and humanitarian knowledge.
Research results. Sports and recreation activities are a sphere of social activity, while physical recreation is considered as a resource that satisfies a person's need for movement in a complex, which is due not only to the biological need of a person, but also to social necessity. The potential of sports and recreation activities through physical recreation in modern society has the integrative capabilities of man and society.
Prospects of the study are related to the problem of preserving and reproducing human health, especially young people, and society itself as a whole, as well as the need to formulate strategic objectives for improving the sports and recreational activities of young people in Russian society.
