Abstract
The objective of the study is to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the consolidation of the professional medical community of the Rostov region in a complex epidemiological situation and to identify integrative mechanisms.
The methodological and empirical basis of the research compiled the results of 40 in-depth interviews with doctors and nurses working and not working with patients with COVID-19.
Research result. According to a regional sociological study, it was revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic did not lead to the destruction of the health care system, but was partly a consolidating factor of the professional medical community. This is evidenced by the positive trend of striving to develop in the profession and the absence of emotional burnout in the broad sense. This is evidenced by the positive trend of striving to develop in the profession and the absence of emotional burnout in the broad sense. At the same time, consolidation proceeds differently among specific professional groups, depending primarily on their level of education and involvement in working with covid patients. It is concluded that the integration of the professional medical community in the Rostov region is more evident in the professional group of medical workers involved in working with covid patients in monoinfective hospitals, without differentiating by the level of education (doctor/secondary medical staff) and is less evident among medical workers who do not work in specialized institutions to combat the pandemic. In general, medics did not deny the consolidation of the professional community, but did not assign such a significant function to the coronavirus pandemic as an integrating factor. Rather, the colleagues themselves contributed to the formation of cohesion, support, interaction, and mutual assistance.
Prospects of the study. The obtained theoretical and practical conclusions can be used in further research of the social well-being of the medical community in a complex epidemiological situation.
