Abstract
The article analyzes historical memory in the institutional space of a multicultural region. It is shown how historical memory affects the functioning of economic and political institutions, including in the regional space. The great role of the potential of historical memory in the preservation of the cultural and historical identity of the peoples of Russia through the development of the higher education system in the cultural and socio-economic space of the region is noted. Based on the results obtained, a number of recommendations are formulated that can be aimed at developing the economic, political and cultural institutions of the region.
