Abstract

The article is an attempt to conduct content analysis of the best-selling motion pictures of the Russian film distribution in 2015-2020 for balance of traditional / conservative values. The analysis is based on open sources, research data of the Federal Center of Theoretical and Applied Sociology of RAS, data from the Unified Federal Automated Information System for Films in Cinema Halls (UAIS), data from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Russian Film Fund. The authors put forward a hypothesis of dominance of traditional values in the best-selling motion pictures’ content. A journalistic collocation “conservative cinema turn” is being introduced into scientific circulation.
