Abstract
This article analyzes the existing approaches and ideological positions to the study of social inertia in the socio-cultural changes of the Russian society, and also proposes the author's methodological strategy for the study of this problematics. The neoclassical model of research is proposed as the basic one, which allowed to build a multidimensional methodological construct of research from the positions of the images and ideas about social inertia in the socio-cultural changes of the Russian society available in the space of various disciplinary practices. Within its framework, social inertia is considered as a phenomenon included in the mechanism of socio-cultural changes as having the property to preserve the socio-cultural system its own (unique) characteristics, preventing the formation of new ones under the influence of endogenous and exogenous factors and thereby fixing the trajectory of sustainable development in the format of the actualized experience of the past. The mechanism of social inertia in sociocultural changes is provided by the configuration and nature of the interaction of cultural invariants and variants generated by the socio-cultural system itself under the influence of external and internal factors. The socio-philosophical dimension of social inertia in sociocultural changes in Russian society, from the point of view of the author’s concept, is based on the identification of three types of social inertia (progressive, regressive and neutral) as determining the vector of sociocultural changes in the process of modernization of society, which can take on the character: 1) of sociocultural development (it corresponds to a progressive type of modernization), 2) sociocultural degradation (consequence of regressive modernization), sociocultural stagnation (as a result of social stagnation, stasis).
