Abstract
Perspective directions of youth volunteering development in modern Russia, are determined in the article. The level of effectiveness of volunteering depends on the character of functioning of the institutional mechanisms producing and retranslating volunteering as a social norm. The author shows that it is better to use as a base for volunteering the trends and types of activities which are important for the young people in the certain period of time: ideally, volunteering should be considered by the youth as the way of increasing the social status in case of such a need. In general, volunteering can be regarded as a national idea and it means development and implementation of coordinated information policy aiming at promotion and popularization of volunteering, comprehensive support of different volunteering initiatives.
