Abstract
The article contains a comprehensive description of topical issues related to the systemic study of the intellectual heritage of a famous scientist, public figure and outstanding organizer of scientific and educational activities – Yury Andreyevich Zhdanov, stored in systematized documentary complexes of the State Archive of the Rostov Region. The starting point of the author's reflections is a qualitative analysis of the established scientific tradition related to the sequential study of the vital, creative and managerial aspects of the real activity of a chosen outstanding personality. According to the author's opinion, archival documents allow to form a comprehensive view of the creative laboratory of the original thinker and the administrative practice of an experienced leader, addressed to significant issues of regional development. The given empirical material illustrates some aspects of Yu. A. Zhdanov’s the multifaceted activity, not fully covered in published sources and has not received a clear assessment in the framework of the previous and modern historiographic tradition. The final conclusion is determined by the fundamental position about the objective necessity of further study of the intellectual heritage of an outstanding person and citizen, based on documentary evidence considered in a wide methodological and sociocultural context. Highlights:Documentary complexes of the State Archive of the Rostov Region, associated with Yu.A. Zhdanov’s multifaceted activities, allow to form an original look at the creative laboratory of an outstanding scientist.Purposeful reference to the stored documents on scientific and educational projects implemented and meaningful by Y.A. Zhdanov, allows to develop effective solutions in the framework of modern management activities.Individual ideas formulated in Yu. A. Zhdanov’s unpublished works, require further analysis and system development, taking into account the turbulent nature of social development at the beginning of the XXI century.
