Abstract
The article analyzes political realism and political pragmatism in the context of international relations. The principles of political realism are investigated, the specificity of political pragmatism is analyzed. The relationship of political realism and political pragmatism is studied. Three sources and components of American political pragmatism are revealed. The author concludes that pragmatism and realism can be the most effective response to modern challenges, if properly disposed as the instrument of international policy.
