Abstract
he article is based on the idea that the deformation of the economic behavior of modern Russian youth in the conditions of the emergence of a consumer society manifests itself mainly through a violation of the optimal structure of economic practices. It serves as the basis for the economic culture of young people formation and, accordingly, the adaptation strategies formation, that are necessary for full socialization. It is concluded that consumption values are aimed at the implementation of significant functions in the youth environment (demonstrative, leisure, hedonistic), which leads to the deformation of optimal consumer practices among the youth. Such practices begin to dominate in the structure of economic behavior, destroying role models addressed to young people in the system of economic relations.
