Abstract
The article analyzes the problem of the development and implementation of information policy in the system of municipal government as a component of local self-government. The article presents the results of a survey on the topic "Information transparency and accessibility of local government of Novocherkassk, Rostov Region", held in December 2015 in Novocherkassk, Rostov region. The conclusion is that positive attitude and support of local self-government among the population can be formed only by the ensuring of the local government openness. It should provide to public the understanding of the essence, goals and objectives of reforms in the municipal sector, an effective solution to urgent life problems and organization of the local self-government from the perspective of representation of the majority of citizens' interests.
