Abstract

The article is based on empirical data from several regional studies on the problems of patriotic upbringing and civic identity of youth of Rostov region. The paper shows that at a sufficiently high level of patriotism, today's youth is differentiated by its patriotic motivation and social mechanisms of its formation. Youth of the Rostov region is set quite traditionalist and conservative, but it is experiencing a serious vacuum of integrating goals of social development, lack of positive identification symbols. The uncertainty of the social conditions of patriotic attitudes formation, processes of globalization make the choice of young people to serve the motherland more discreet, and young people assessments are becoming more pragmatic.
