Abstract
Objective of the study. The analysis of the views of the residents of the Rostov region on the main directions of state migration policy in the country, as well as on the need to tighten the control over the migrants stays in Russia.
The methodological basis of the study is presented by the results of an applied sociological research conducted by the staff of the South Russian branch of the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The research method is a questionnaire.
The results of the study. The general expectations of the residents of the Rostov region about the migration policy implemented by the state authorities at the federal level have been studied. Two main factors influencing the attitude of the population towards migrants have been identified: material well-being and sense of personal security. The respondents also agree with the need to tighten migration policy measures in Russia.
Prospects of the study. The results of the conducted sociological research can be used to increase the effectiveness of the government policy measures in such areas as migration and interethnic relations.
