Abstract

Objective of the study is to consider the role of modern sociological discourse in rethinking the gender order and its use in the value confrontation between Russia and the countries of the “collective West”. The methodological basis of the research. The analysis is based on the methodology of social constructivism which underlies the sociology of gender and allows to define such concepts as “gender policy” and “gender order”.  Along with it, the post-structural concept of power by M. Foucault and queer theory are used.   The results of the study. The author considers the displacement of gender order concept and the analysis of objective problems of inequality, inherent in it, from the political agenda of modern economically developed societies. The tool in this is modern queer theory, which matured in the depth of gender sociology, which differentiated biological sex and the social construct of gender identity. The distance between biological sex and gender in queer theory is brought to its completion, which manifests itself in the denial of the dichotomy of identity into masculine and feminine.  It is shown as by means of political power, the ideas of queer theory are approved as a legal norm in the countries of the “collective West”, and are consolidated at the level of international organizations (UN, European Union). The example of Russia shows the promotion of sexual identity liberalization in political discourse, as well as Russia’s defense of the gender order and traditional values, including at the international level. Prospects of the study are connected with the following study of the attitude of modern student youth to traditional values, including masculinity and femineity as values, gender order.
Keywords:
