Abstract

Objective of the study is: to identify the presence or absence of priority according to the ethnocultural and/or ethnolinguistic principle in the choice of Taganrog residents of groups of countries to visit under ideal conditions. The methodological basis of the research is Boris Grushin's toolkit, which was used in Taganrog in 1968. Respondents were asked to name several countries (up to five) that they would like to visit if there was an ideal situation (free of charge). Thus, value orientations were removed in terms of specific countries desired to visit. This toolkit was used by the staff of the South Russian Branch of FCTAS RAS during a survey in 2023 in the city of Taganrog. The identified countries were grouped according to ethnocultural and/or ethnolinguistic principles. In relation to the identified groups of countries, a ranking operation was applied, an analysis of the motivational component of the selection of groups of countries, assessments of their (groups of countries) policy towards Russia. Research result. 1) with obvious leaders in the frequency of choice among groups of countries, there is no large bias towards one group or another; at the same time, the most frequently selected groups differ greatly from each other in ethnocultural and/or ethnolinguistic aspects; 2) the geopolitical conjuncture does not significantly affect the ideal orientations in choosing groups of countries to visit; 3) the main motives of respondents' choice of country groups are cognitive and leisure; 4) the ethnocultural and / or ethnolinguistic moment manifests itself in conjunction with a cognitive motive, namely, the more exotic the culture of a particular group, the higher the level of cognitive motivation for choice. Prospects of the study. The results of the study can be applied in research projects within the framework of the sociology of international relations and the sociology of tourism.
