Abstract
The article analyzes students’ ideas about interethnic relations on the basis of a study conducted in the first half of 2019. One thousand senior students studying various fields aged 20-24 in Moscow and Stavropol were interviewed. The results are analyzed in IBM SPSS Statistics-23. For most of the students interviewed, it is important to be aware of their connection with the country, their small homelands, and people of their nationality. The vast majority of students interviewed did not encounter instances of insult, humiliation, or conflict situations due to their nationality. Muslim respondents and representatives of the peoples of the North Caucasus note instances of insult, humiliation, and conflict situations related to their nationality more than others. The majority of students interviewed approve of interethnic marriages, except for Muslim respondents. Of the variables studied, the most differentiating are the national and religious affiliations of students. To a great extent, this concerns the presence/absence of cases of insult, humiliation, and conflict situations related to nationality issues. To consolidate the positive dynamics of interethnic relations, to prevent instances of insult, humiliation, and conflict situations due to national and religious affiliations, further development of ethnic and cultural integration in the multicultural environment of young students is needed, as well as the stimulation of ethnocultural tolerance and the improvement of the work of the public administration bodies of the constituent entities of the North Caucasian Federal District of the Russian Federation and universities in motivating young people to respect ethnic and religious values and traditions.
