Dynamics of socio-cultural modernization in Russia

Connection between system of norms and values of Russians, (including their attitudes towards the norms of democratic system as well as to property) and existing type of society in Russia is shown in the article. Specifics of socio-cultural modernization and its stage that Russian society is on today is analyzed based on significant empirical data. Range of opportunities for actions of Russian elites in conditions of dominating norms and values in Russia is determined, as well as the main risks on the way of forming a full-fledged democracy in Russia. On the Russian example some of the features that are characteristic for the process of cultural change in developing countries are shown.
